FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — An Arizona officer who was involved in a fatal shooting of an armed man last year has died by suicide.
According to local news station KTAR, Officer Daniel Beckwith was found dead in his home on Tuesday.
Beckwith had been on paid leave since June after fatally shooting 78-year-old John Hamilton in February 2018. Hamilton allegedly pointed a weapon at officers and repeatedly ignored commands, prompting Beckwith and another officer to shoot Hamilton.
Beckwith had been with the department since 2014.
