CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A special moment was captured between a Tennessee officer and his daughter, a dispatcher.
Chattagnooga Police Lt. Austin Garrett retired after 25 years of service with the department this week, local news station News Channel 9 reports.
In a video viewed more than 430,000 times on Facebook, dispatcher Haley Garrett thanked her father for his service during his final call.
"You've been a mentor and great friend to many during your career,” she said. “We all wish you well on your future endeavors. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I love you daddy."
Garrett may be retiring from the Chattanooga Police Department, but his law enforcement career will continue. He will be sworn in as the chief deputy for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department on Monday.

Allison Haley Garrett sent this to me and I have to say it triggered my soft side. Allison is a dispatcher and was able to take her father’s final sign off for his retirement! Seriously couldn’t love this enough! Thank you for your service of 25 years Lt. Austin L. Garrett and congratulations on your new endeavors as Chief Deputy of Hamilton Co. S.O!
